What a day we have had.  We got up at 5:30 am to start our day of surgery.  Maya had her tonsils and adenoids removed.  Mitchell got his second set of tubes and also had his adenoids removed.  Everyone was in good spirits before the surgery.
We had the surgeries at Children's Hospital Liberty Campus.  It was an exceptional place with wonderful nurses and doctors.  We were treated very well and are extremely happy with the entire experience.  First, we went back with Mitchell and Arthur held him while he was put to sleep.  Shortly after that, we went back with Maya.  It was hard to watch their bodies go limp as they fell asleep, but we knew it was for a good reason.

Mitchell's surgery was first, so he woke up first.  When we walked back to see him the nurse was snuggling him and he wasn't crying or anything.  The first time he got tubes he woke up a screaming beast.  But this time he was completely calm and cuddly.
When we were told Maya had woken up, we took all our stuff over to her recovery area.  She was a lot more rough looking and in obvious pain.  We talked to the nurse while Arthur held and comforted her.  They brought in a portable DVD player for Mitchell to watch CARS and that kept him happy on my lap.  After giving Maya some Tylenol and giving us our instructions we were discharged.  We were out of the hospital by 9:30 am.  We were happy to not have to be there too long.

On the ride home Maya fell asleep.  Mitchell didn't say much, he was still a little confused.  At one point he reached out and grabbed my hand to hold.  That melted my heart.
When we got home we took Maya upstairs to our bed.  I laid with her and we took about an hour long nap.  Mitchell slept in his bed for about 3 hours.  In the early afternoon Maya took residence on the living room couch.  Mitchell wanted to show his sister some love.

Later, the 3 of us took our second nap of the day - everyone in the living room!  Mitchell woke up from the nap worse off than he did from the anesthesia.  He screamed for at least 30 minutes when he woke up.  Not sure if it was because he was still tired, in pain, or something else.  This happens a lot even on non-surgery days.

Once he calmed down, he was back to normal for the rest of the night.

Happy to have Daddy, his milk, and baby.
Maya, on the other hand, not so happy.
And the day wouldn't be complete without a little tornado sirens...
Mitchell and Daddy checking things out.
All in all, we are doing well.  Maya is not drinking as much as we would like, but she is requesting things like granola bars and poptarts.  We haven't given in to every wish, but have let her have some of what she has asked for.  If she is still refusing to drink tomorrow, we are going to need to get really creative because staying hydrated is super important at this point.  I will do my best to
