Day 261: Tornado Warning

We had a tornado warning around 12:30 am this morning. I got the kids out of bed and we camped out in the basement for about 30 minutes. Maya thought it was pretty cool and Mitchell didn't mind too much at first. He did end up drinking a bottle before going back up to bed, but then he slept until 7.
FYI: The concrete is the wall - they were not laying on concrete. I had a blanket and pillows on the ground for them.

While we were downstairs Maya kept talking about a potato. She kept asking weird questions about a potato and wouldn't stop talking about it. I was getting really frustrated because I had no idea what she was talking about. I finally said "Maya, what are you talking about?!?" She said "what is a potato siren?" "OHHHHHH, you mean tornado siren!" It made a tense moment pretty funny. When we got home this afternoon she even said "Mommy, do you remember the storm when we goed in the basement for the potato?" So cute!

In addition to the weather emergency, we experienced another slight emergency tonight. It took her four years, but today she decided to stick something up her nose. I was laying on the ground playing with Mitchell and she came over to talk to us. I looked up at her and from that angle I could see something up there. I asked what was in her nose and she didn't say much. I just though it was snot or something. I tried to get it out and when I touched it realized it was hard. That's when she confessed to it being a bead. She said "Corrine thought it was funny." After about 10 traumatic minutes of her not being able to blow it out and freaking out about tweezers going up there, she finally blew hard enough and it came out. I couldn't miss the photo opportunity, though:
