March 9 on 9

Please forgive me for not actually getting these pictures taken on the 9th. At least they were taken in the right month.

For Maya's last month as a four year old, I decided to make a top ten list. Here are the top ten things I never expected to come out of my 4 year old's mouth:

10. "Daddy, can we watch Tron?"

9. "Ok Jack, I'm going to go over here and put this necklace on so you can draw me in your book."

8. "You get what you get and you don't throw a fit. You get orange."

7. "Mommy, will I have to wear your panties when I grow up?"

6. "How will we get everything to our new house, like our cups? It won't all fit in the trunk."

5. While watching a video from Christmas of her opening gifts at 20 months, she watched Mama hand her a gift and 4 year old Maya said "that's my purple baby doll." Sure enough, she opened it and it was her purple baby doll. No idea how she remembered that.

4. "I didn't get a sticker today. I talked to Logan on my cot and I be'd bad with my friends but I don't remember what I did."

3. "One time my sister's clothes caught on fire. She had to stop, drop, and roll. She totally freaked out!"

2. "Mimi was right Mommy, I am prettier than you!"

1. "Because I'm pregnant, and I'm not comfortable!"

Picture Day

Today was Spring Picture Day at school. Here are some pictures I took before school this morning. I had tears in my eyes as I took these because Mitchell looked like a little man. He is growing up way too fast!

Apparently, I brought "Amelia" home with me, not Mitchell. Maya dressed him in her nightgown when we got home and started calling him Amelia. There is a girl in her class named Amelia. Of course, Mitchell loved every second of wearing girl clothes.

In Memory

We didn't have many favorite moments today, as our dear "Mama" passed away this morning. She will deeply missed and will always be alive in our hearts. Instead of sharing favorite parts of the day, I thought I would share a letter Maya wrote to Mama.

2/16/12

Dear Mama,
I really love you. I wish you weren't sick. I wish you could still come to my house with Yeye like you did before you got sick. I loved when we spent Christmas at your house. I watched some videos of when I was a baby and could see how much you love me. I loved when you played with me and Mitchell in my basement. I loved to wear the dresses you bought me in the summer. It makes me sad that you are sick. You are different now. You don't have hair on your head and you're not wearing your necklace you always wore. We are coming to see you this weekend. I hope I can kiss your cheek like last time.

Forking

Mitchell is getting pretty good with a fork. He was so proud of himself tonight when he ate his oranges all by himself.

Daily Favorite:

Arthur: Getting woken up this morning by a hug from Maya.

Maya: Playing "naked" with Mitchell (they had on underwear/diaper).

Mitchell: Playing with Maya. He even stayed up until 8:00 tonight because he was being so good and having fun with Maya.

Kim: Being able to clean the kitchen and do laundry while listening to the beautiful sound of my children laughing, chasing, and playing together.

March 1 = 450th post! Wow, that's a lot of posts! Anyway, today was orange day in Pre-K. All week they have been allowed to wear a colored shirt to go with the theme, instead of their uniform shirt. My favorite part of the day happened early this morning...

Kim: After loading things in my car before leaving for work this morning, I walked back in the house to find this.Mitchell typically screams when I walk out the door, so you can imagine how elated I was to not only find he was fine, but they were enjoying each other's company and even cuddling. Super cute!

Maya: Playing with Mitchell. He was all about hugging and kissing his sister tonight.

Mitchell: Gymnastics. He learned to flip over on his chair. Maybe we've had the wrong kid doing gymnastics all along.

Arthur: Getting on the plane in Florida to head back home.

We missed you, Daddy! Can't wait to see you tonight!

Leap Day

Today sure was interesting. We started out with Mitchell's 18 month appointment. He weighs 28 pounds and is 34 inches long. Dr. said he is perfect, except for his current ear infection. He may need tubes again since they have both fallen out. This brings me to his favorite part of the day...

Mitchell: Kissing Mommy at the Dr.'s office. We are talking hands on my face, pulling me in, and planting a big wet one right on my mouth. He rarely does this, so I consider myself really special!

And that brings me to my favorite part of the day...

Kim: Getting both of these bags of chocolate for $2.24 when I went to pick up Mitchell's prescription. I know they did not ring up right in the register. They should have been $7. But I asked the lady and she insisted it was right. So I took my chocolate and ran!

Moving on to more interesting things. I got a call from school because they thought Maya might have strep throat. So, I took her to the same Dr. this afternoon that Mitchell saw this morning. No strep, but she does need her tonsils out. I'm sure that will be an ordeal. We had some time to kill after her appointment and before gymnastics, so what better to do then go get ice cream!

Maya: Getting ice cream with Mommy!

Arthur: Getting a text picture of Maya eating ice cream. Arthur gave up ice cream for lent. He was still able to enjoy the picture.

To wrap the day up, Maya had her last gymnastics class tonight. We are moving on to soccer in the spring.

Favorite Part of The Day

I'm going to try daily posts again. As a family we always try to say what our favorite part of the day was while we eat dinner. I think that would be a fun addition to my blog. So here are our favorite parts of the day...

Maya: "Making Renee (her baby doll) feel better after she got hurt."
Mitchell: Wearing Maya's princess costume (just a stage, we hope).

Kim: Talking to 2 very special friends on the phone today.

Arthur: Maya waking up early to say goodbye before work.
