Day 220: Here We Go Again

Mitchell is vomitting and has diarrhea again. It has been a good two weeks of healthy kids. I guess we are due.

Day 219: 47 Months

Cruising to 4 years old, just one more month! You sleep with mommy and daddy now. It's not even worth the fight trying to get you in your own bed. We will work on that at the new house. I did read a British study recommending children sleep with their parents until five years old, at least someone approves!

You are really into Scooby Doo. You haven't been as interested in Dora lately.

You are totally into playing with your baby dolls. You put them in circle time and pretend like you are the teacher. You name your babies after daycare friends and assign them jobs like line leader, weather checker, caboose, etc.
You are getting better at writing your name.
You still love helping with Mitchell and you are so great with him.
We started doing this thing where we tell each other our favorite part of the day. You never forget even if it is beditme and we have to call or text daddy to find out what his favorite part of the day.
Best conversation this month (which happened totally randomly on the way to daycare):
Maya: "Why did your grandma die?"
Me: "Because she was old and that's what happens when we get old."
Maya: "Will she be well again?"
Me: "No, she is gone forever."
Maya: "So she is Baby Jesus?"
Me: "No, but she is with Baby Jesus."
Maya: "Oh, so she punishes us with Baby Jesus now." (this was not posed as a question)

Day 216: Seven Months

Mitchell at seven months...You are so amazed by everything Maya does. You stop drinking your bottle when you hear her voice. You watch everything she does and just smile and laugh at her. It is really sweet to watch.
You love toys that light up and smaller toys you can get in your mouth. You are so much more tolerant of tummy time now that you have started realizing that's how you're going to get moving independently.
You want to crawl so bad. You push up on all fours, but you slide backwards instead of forward. Practice, practice, practice, and you will figure it out.
You are trying more and more table food. You had your first rice cracker today and you loved it. It's the first thing you really fed yourself. You cried for more cracker when I tried to feed you pureed peas.
Every single one of these pictures were taken today. You seriously go through 3-5 outfits a day. Between diaper blow-outs and spitting up we can't keep outfits clean.
Your sleeping seems to have improved, but we had a setback last night. After sleeping 10 straight hours Thursday night, and 8 hours Friday night, you were up at 2am last night and wouldn't go back to bad until after 4 am when Daddy finally fed you. Hopefully that was just a fluke and we can get back to 10 hours.
You are starting to babble much more. It sounds like you are saying "dadadada" and "blah blah blah."

Day 215: Maya's Allowance

Today Maya spent the money she has earned from her sticker chart. She bought a necklace... New shoes...

And her first remote control car.

Day 214: Mitchell Man

Mitchell slept from 8pm to 6am last night. I am so proud of him for not even waking up for his paci. This might be the first time ever that he went 10 hours without a single wake-up.

Day 210: "I'm Still Hungry!"

All day long, this is what I hear. "I'm still hungry." Imagine it in a three year old whiney voice over and over and over again. Maybe if she ate normal food she would get full and stop being hungry!

Day 209: Just Dance 2

Mitchell had his first tastes of table food today: bananas, green beans, and veggie straws.

Day 208: Arrr Matey

Mitchell's "pirate face" captured on film (this is not a regular face).
Mitchell is working on trying to crawl. He pushes up with his arms and he pushes up on his legs, just not at the same time.

Day 206: Circle Time

Maya likes to pretend she is a teacher. She set up her baby dolls to have circle time. She named them after girls in her class. She did the weather with them and then read them a story.

I got a few of these smiles from Mitchell today - in between the ear-piercing screaming. It's off to the Dr. tomorrow morning to check him out.
Thankfully Mitchell isn't too motivated to climb out of the swing. It's the only thing that calms him down when he is screaming his head off. When all else fails - try the swing. Not sure how much longer this will last.
