Day 101: Poor Sick Baby

Mitchell has his first true cold. He is super congested and miserable. Poor guy is having trouble breathing and just can't get comfortable. I hope it doesn't last very long. It's breaking my heart. On a positive note, he did sleep through the night last night, even though it was in his swing.

Day 99: 3 Years, 7 Months

I am very disappointed in the quality of the 43 Month picture on Maya's page, however it is late and Maya is not cooperating, so it will have to do. Maya, here is what you are up to at 3 years, 7 months:

  • You know all your letters and letter sounds, with the exception of "s." You know the sound but for some reason cannot remember the name.
  • You are starting to try to spell things. You named your baby doll "Curla" and even told me her name begins with "c" and says /k/.
  • You are interested in learning to write, but "m" is really the only letter you write well.
  • You are talking to yourself and "imaginary friends" more and more often.
  • You are pretty good and retelling stories like in books, movies, and TV shows.
  • You are very independent and able to play by yourself. This is very helpful with an infant in the house.
  • You are so attentive to Mitchell. Always making sure he is covered up and ok.
You get leg cramps often and have been getting sick a lot the past few months. If you get strep three more times before May your tonsils may need to come out.
  • Bedtime is still a pain. But your daddy is gone so much and you are growing too fast for me to be stressed about you sleeping in my bed. I'm just going to enjoy it for now because it won't last forever.
  • You freak out when friends have to go home or you have to leave your friends. There is horrible screaming and crying and usually a complete meltdown.
  • You don't listen well and won't clean up your toys at night. This is on my list as something that needs to improve yesterday!

You are such a delightful little girl (most of the time), growing up way too fast!

Day 96: 3 Months

Yay for Mitchell's 3 month milestone! Here's what he has started doing this month:
  • Actually enjoying his bouncer and play mat. He will play in these "stations" for up to about 15 minutes at a time.
  • We introduced him to his exer-saucer. He hasn't taken to it as well as Maya did. Perhaps he is still too young.
  • He is definitely for real laughing, since October 15th.
  • He is definitely cooing and "talking" to us.
  • Sleep is still not going well. One time he slept 8:30pm-5:30am, but that was in his swing and has never happened again. He typically goes to bed between 8-9 and sleeps 3-5 hours. He wakes up to eat, sleeps another couple hours, then wakes up to eat again. By now it is anywhere from 3:30-6:30am, and he usally ends up in his swing at this time. Hopefully we will start belly sleeping tonight and see some improvements.
  • I stopped breastfeeding last month, and he is drinking Gentlease formula. We attempted a bag of breast milk last weekend and it really tore his stomach up. I have 300 oz of breast milk in the freezer that will bring me to tears if I have to throw it out. Maybe mixing it with formula won't be so hard on him.
  • Besides the massive 12 week growth spurt he just went through, he has been doing pretty well on a three hour feeding schedule. Sometimes he only makes it 2 1/2 hours, but it is still much better than before. He also just started taking 5 oz last week.
  • He is happy most of the time. When he isn't happy, it's usually pretty easy to find out why. He is starting to remind us a lot of how Maya was as a baby. Which is such a good thing.

Day 95: "I'm A Vampire"

I didn't know Maya even had vampire in her vocabulary. I heard her telling Addison she was a vampire, then I saw she had in the vampire teeth. Perfect photo opportunity! We tried to have a slumber party with Addison tonight, but she started to miss her mommy and had to go home. Maya was pretty disappointed, but we still let her watch a movie in our bed. Maya also got her flu shot today. Arthur took her, and said she was a really big girl. No screaming, just a quick whimper when she got poked. She was rewarded with ice cream!

Day 93: 363 Months and Mama's Birthday

Happy Birthday Mama - hope you are having a good one in Hong Kong!
With this being the third of the month, it is also my day. Instead of sitting in front of a piece of paper that says how many months I am, I have decided to do something different for my updates. Yesterday I started Weight Watchers. Even though I can wear most of my pre-pregnancy clothes, I am still about 10 pounds above where I was when I got pregnant and would like to get even lower than that. So I am going to post my picture every month, in hopes that I look a little slimmer each time, maybe I'll even where the same outfit.
So here is what I look like now, head on and profile. I probably could have stood in a more flattering position for the profile, but it is what it is and I didn't want to hide anything. I just let it all hang out. Hopefully, when I am 364 months there will be an obvious change and weight loss to blog about!

Day 87: Tu-Tu Time

Since I couldn't talk Maya into wearing her tu-tu as part of her Halloween costume, I decided to just take some pictures of her wearing it. We had this great idea for her to be a butterfly, but as soon as she saw Snow White's dress all was forgotten.
Firemen came to Maya's class to talk about Halloween safety today and left fake helmets for the kids. Mitchell looks good as a fireman! Too bad he already has a monkey costume for Sunday.
