Day 249: Birthday Eve

Maya got to celebrate her birthday at school today. They sang to her, had cupcakes, and they made her a crown. I wanted to catch a picture of her wearing the crown. We took it outside first, but there were bumblebees and wasps, so we had to take it inside.

Day 248: Mitchell's Laugh

Day 247: 8 Months

Time just keeps on flying by, 8 months already...As seen above, I think you are starting to clap. You just started within the past couple days and it is so cute.

You don't have any teeth yet, even though it seems like you're been teething forever. You are also a screamer. You scream just to get our attention sometimes, or maybe you're just bored. You whine if you don't get your bottle fast enough when you think you need it.
You're still not crawling. You do push-ups, but can't figure out the coordination of getting up on all fours at the same time. This is really frustrating you because you want lots of things that are out of reach.
You are sleeping really well. You still just need your paci, blanket, and some background noise to fall asleep. You usually go to bed between 7-8pm and sleep until 7-8 am. Some nights you don't wake up at all, some nights you wake up a lot. But all it takes to get you back to sleep is giving you your paci. We never feed you in the middle of the night. Lately you have been flipping to your belly a lot in bed. This makes you mad and even though you know how to roll back, you seem to forget.
You are still a great eater. You haven't turned down a single thing I have offered you. I am so excited at the prospect of having a child who isn't a picky eater.
You took your first bath tonight in the tub. Maya took it with you and you two played with your new bath toys.

Day 246: Tubes

Mitchell got his tubes today. His nurse was so impressed with how good he was before the surgery. He wasn't freaking out for his bottle and he held still for all the tests she had to run. When the nurse commented on him being good Maya said "sometimes he be's good, and sometimes he doesn't be good." Well, that pretty much summarizes it! The nurse thought that was so funny, we heard her telling it to other nurses outside our room.

He came back to us a screaming beast! He screamed the whole way home from the hospital. When we got home he took a nap and woke up more like himself. He has been fussier than normal today, but nothing crazy. Hopefully it won't take long for him to get back to his 10-12 hours of nighttime sleep!

Day 245: Calm Before The Storm

Mitchell is scheduled to get tubes tomorrow. Hopefully he will not have a fever and they can go through with the surgery. My biggest concern is him not being allowed to eat after midnight. We will feed him at 11:30 and put him to sleep in his car seat. I really hope he doesn't cry inconsolably in the morning because we are withholding his morning bottle.

Day 244: Hanging At The Hotel

Maya's first experience with paper dolls. She said "mommy, they lost their heads!"

Day 243: Indianapolis Children's Museum

We had a blast today. The kids were very well-behaved all day and we got to have so much fun. Maya loved the Children's Museum. We will probably get a yearly membership because it was such a great experience. I went a little picture crazy - lots to look at tonight!

Today wouldn't be complete without a couple videos. Mitchell's video is him yelling - not because he's mad - just because he likes to yell. Maya's video is her "driving the train."

Day 242: Thunder Thighs

Mitchell got his 6 month shots today, even though he is almost 8 months. Finally, he was healthy enough to get them.
